Bringing Authentic Italian Flavors to Maryland

We started with a simple goal - serve the same quality Italian food you'd find in Connecticut and New York delis, right here in Hampstead.

Generations of Italian Food Tradition

Generations of Italian Food Tradition

Our story begins with Joseph Rocco Summa, born in 1936 to Italian immigrants in Waterbury, Connecticut. Starting as a meat cutter apprentice at Fulten Markets in 1952, Joe opened his own market in the Italian neighborhood of Town Plot. His commitment to quality meats, fresh ingredients, and hometown service became our foundation. Joe's passion for food led him to create Pilot Seasonings Company in 1981, bringing authentic spice blends to restaurants and markets across the country.

Global Inspiration, Italian Heritage

Global Inspiration, Italian Heritage
Joe Summa lived life as an adventurer, traveling the world from Antarctica to the Amazon, Africa to Europe. His journeys sparked a love for discovering new foods and flavors from every corner of the globe. Though he explored cuisines worldwide, Joe's heart remained with his Italian roots and quality ingredients. Today, his son Joe Jr. and daughter Mary continue his legacy through Pilot Seasonings, keeping his values alive while bringing authentic Italian tradition to our community.
